Universitas Pahlawan Tuanku Tambusai, shortly called Universitas Pahlawan, is a flourishing private university in Indonesia. The existence of this higher education institution started off with the inception of the Diploma of Nursing, a 3-year entry-level tertiary education nursing credential, in 1996, nationally recognized as Akademi Keperawatan. In 2003,
the institution responded a high demand on midwives in the nation by setting up another diploma, the Diploma in Midwifery, a 3-year entry-level tertiary education program. In 2006, these two diplomas were merged into a school, nationally recognized as Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Kesehatan (STIKes). Several years after STIKes formation, it established a four-year program in Midwifery (2009) and an under graduate study of Public Health in 2011.
